May 21 - Psychological Symbol and Meaning

Today was an independent exploration of Cluj-Napoca. A few of us opted to stay in a small group of just us students and returned to quite a few of the places pointed out by our tour guide the day prior including:
St. Michael's Cathedral
We realized a few cannonballs are still lodged in one of the walls
Pics with Matias Rex statue
Ask a local!
Yellow church was having a service and the local escorted us through the back entrance so we skipped the line. We didn't jump to the front, just reverently sat in the pews, took a few photos, and quietly left.
Glorie Ostasuluí Român statue in the other side of the Orthodox Cathedral.
Irish pub in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Ironically they hadn't received their shipment of cooking reagents so the options were limited to what is typically available in Romania... In other words, nothing Irish was available just burgers, sandwiches, and some chicken based items.
Quick check in back at the hotel then back to the Town square!
Inside the oldest church... Magnificently ornate, gold everywhere.
Statue of a boy dressed up like a centaur.
Matias' house turned into a very exclusive arts school only open to the general public one day a year.
Last remaining portion of the ancient city wall.
Library across the street from the communist theater -- was only worth looking at the outside.
More ice cream!
Cluj-Napoca cemetery.
There was a tomb that was broken into and made me wonder what would motivate that sort of behavior. I wasn't able to come up with anything convincing before we left the cemetery.
Back to the hotel to meet up with the whole gang then off to the most haunted forest in Europe; also known as "The Bermuda Triangle of Romania"
Trees growing unnaturally in all sorts of directions. Not very scary although we didn't go very deep nor stay beyond sundown. We attempted to time it so the sun would go down on our way out and we just missed it, leaving too early, with sunlight still available.
Back to the hotel
A couple students and I went for petrol station grub and groceries.
Then sleep.
